my friend did took her tv last month, but it is not worth the hassle, Anyways things to do- Not at all advisable to pack tv on your own, - she packed it and they tore open the box saying it exceeded the size ,her's was 55 inch and they later ended in breaking the screen glass. so better buy new one which comes with all the packing done, or have it packed by some professional . second most important buy baggage insurance. even if they break it you would be able to claim it. yes do check with airlines how baggage insurance works.
