Never is too late try to apply for state id..as soon as u come back..if u hv Indian dl carry with you...as said in earlier post carry the passport but with care....also one suggestion till this storm settles avoid travelling...lot of flights got cancelled..some were diverted to other airports foremergency landing.At that point of time paper work go terrible they may ask hell lot of things for security reasons...
