Exactly - I don't think it's a very wise idea. I also fail to understand how people do it. The thing that is most precious is not your car or your bank account but your kid. They are totally dependent on us, and we should do everything to protect them even it means spending more money and finding 'expensive' day care. If you need occasional baby sitting then also there are official sites where people come with references backgroound checks etc. Nothing is fool proff, but better than choosing a total stranger and 'taking' a chance.
